Living Funerals
Living funerals are typically held when a person is coming to the end of their life or has received a terminal diagnosis. They provide an opportunity for the individual to participate in their own memorial; to reflect on and celebrate their life; share meaningful moments with loved ones and to say goodbye in a way that reflects their values.

A living funeral can be an intimate gathering with close family and friends or a larger event to reflect the life, personality, values and desires of the individual. The focus of living funerals is on celebrating life, cherishing relationships and creating meaningful experiences.
During a living funeral others have the opportunity to express their love and gratitude directly to their loved one, and allows the individual to hear and witness the impact they have had on the lives of others. Living funerals provide the opportunity for open communication, healing and closure and encourage a positive and reflective approach to mortality.
Living funerals should be approached with sensitivity and respect. As a celebrant writing and officiating at a living funeral I would meet with you, usually in your home, to help you and your loved ones express your emotions, tell me the stories of your life and what you would like to include in your living funeral.
I will then create a meaningful and heartfelt memorial based on your values, beliefs and wishes, which I would deliver at your living funeral with the utmost sensitivity. Cherished memories to honour and celebrate your life would give you and your loved ones the opportunity to say goodbye in the way that you would prefer.
