Interment of Ashes

A short ceremony which takes place after the cremation. Your loved one's ashes will be placed in their permanent resting place where family and friends may wish to visit in the future and is a beautiful and meaningful way of honouring the life and memory of a loved one.

Interment of Ashes

Interment of ashes means placing the ashes in a specific resting place — for example, a grave, a plot, a niche, or a natural burial ground. It’s a permanent location where loved ones can return, and it usually includes a short, dignified ceremony.

There is no scheduled time for interment of ashes and it can be planned for whenever feels right for you. Some people choose not to inter ashes at all.

Creating a safe and supportive environment, I will work closely with you to write a ceremony that reflects the unique personality, beliefs and values of your loved one and will carefully consider your wishes and any specific cultural or religious traditions that my be relevant. The ceremony can include prayers, religious or non-religious readings or poems that may hold personal significance for your family, and can also include  moments of quiet reflection.

During the interment ceremony the ashes are respectfully placed into the final resting place such as a cremation plot, a garden or woodland burial ground.

Scattering of Ashes

Scattering of ashes means releasing the ashes into the air, onto land, or into water. This can be done in a meaningful place chosen by the family, and it offers a sense of freedom and return to nature. It can be formal or informal, quiet or symbolic — whatever feels right.

Most crematoriums and churches offer a space where ashes can be scattered but ashes can be scattered in most places in the UK provided the landowner gives permission.
