Handfastings
Otherwise known as 'tying the knot' - represents the spiritual and symbolic uniting of two people joining together their journey of life. This can also be incorporated into any other wedding celebration.

Handfasting is an ancient pagan-inspired, marriage ritual that is becoming increasingly popular in more personal and intimate wedding celebrations. The ceremony, which is not legally binding, involves a couple’s hands being placed together and bound with ribbon or cord representing their commitment to each other and symbolises their joining through marriage.
The ritual is a meaningful way to express love and unity in a non-religious or alternative wedding ceremony. It is often performed at celebrant led services but it is not permitted at civil services performed by a Registrar as they are required by law to have no religious/ritual content.

Please note: A celebrant led handfasting, is not legally binding and you will need to make the standard legal declaration and register your marriage with a registrar at the local registry office, usually a couple of days before your celebrant led handfasting ceremony but can be any time before or after.
