A civil funeral is a funeral driven by the wishes, beliefs and values of the person who has died and their family, and not of the person conducting the funeral - it is a celebration of the life of the person who has died.

​

Planning a funeral for a loved one can be a difficult task so, I will visit you at your home or a place convenient for you, to get to know you and hear about the loved one who has died, so that the ceremony I write and deliver will reflect the life that was lived and will be a fitting and personal memoir for your loved one.

The content of the funeral ceremony or celebration of life  can include readings, poems and music and because there is no restriction on religion if you would like a prayer or to sing a hymn this can also be included.

The celebration of life or funeral ceremony usually takes place at a crematorium but could take place wherever you wish.   The cremation will be held at the crematorium after the ceremony and the Funeral Director will advise you when the ashes are ready for you to collect if this is what you wish. 

 

A burial ceremony could be held at a non-religious burial ground such a woodland burial ground or the local cemetery.
